The State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan together with the Customs Academy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the International Network of Customs University (INCU) Baku Regional Office will be organizing the 3rdInternational Student Conference in Mingachevir, Azerbaijan from 4-7 of July 2018 that will focus on contemporary issues relating to customs, trade and economics. The theme of the conference will be "Global Trade Automation: Internet of Things (IoT) and Big Data Analytics for Customs Decision Making", and it will focus on the following topics:

·Big Data analytics for decision-making in Customs

·Customs Information Management and New Generation of Compliance Management

·Digital Customs Education – e-Learning and more

·Innovative approaches to Customs management and trade facilitation

The aim of this conference is to provide a unique international platform that brings together the best students, academics and practitioners from around the world in various disciplines related to customs and provides them with an opportunity to share their research, knowledge, experiences and ideas.

It willalso provide students with an opportunity to establish networks at an early stage of their careers that facilitate future customs-academia collaboration to support Customs capacity-building, strategic decision-making and the development of sound regulatory policy and practice.

All papers presented at the conference will be published at Conference Proceedings by the INCU Baku Regional Office. The best academic papers will be selected for consideration to be published in the Journal of Customs & Economics Review and the World Customs Journal.

The working languages of the conference will be Azerbaijani, English and Russian.

Kür Hotel

The 4-star Kur hotel is a part of the Olympic Training and Sports Complex, however it welcomes not only sportsmen, but everyone who wishes to stay there. The hotel has 48 spacious rooms and can generally host up to 149 people. All the rooms have beautiful views into the waters of the Kur. Hotel guests can make free use of the sports pool and halls (volleyball, basketball, football), gym and tennis court. The hotel is also equipped with a conference hall that can seat 70 people.

Near the hotel is the distinctive 5-storey Gulla (Tower) which rises 39 metres. The second and third floors of the building are used as observation points for judges and journalists during rowing tournaments. The fourth and fifth (terrace) floors are used for a restaurant and café. Here you can try both national and European cuisine, take in the marvelous panorama and try the bar.

Papers should conform to the following requirements and be submitted to international@customs.gov.az not later than 1 June 2018:

  • Must be in English or Russian;
  • Typed in Microsoft Word or RTF format;
  • Only original papers that have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere;
  • A minimum of 3,000 words and a maximum of 8,000 words (not including the bibliography);
  • Footnotes rather than endnotes should be used;
  • Should be accompanied by an abstract and include author's details and biography (maximum 200 words) of author;
  • Contact person's e-mail and telephone.
