During his visit to Ankara, chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, customs service Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev met with Minister of Customs and Trade of the Republic of Turkey Bulent Tufekci on June 28.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, customs service Lieutenant-General Asef Mammadov and other members of the Azerbaijani delegation attended the meeting.
The sides underlined the dynamic development of cooperation between the two countries in all spheres, including trade, economy, in particular, customs sphere.
Minister of Customs and Trade Bulent Tufekci pointed out that important work had been done to improve mutual cooperation in the field of customs between the two countries over the recent years. They said exchange of information and experience had further strengthened cooperation in this field, importance was attached to the relations with Azerbaijan, and further expansion of mutual relations in the future.
Bulent Tufekci said that the revival of the ancient Silk Road, the cooperation of our countries served as an example to the world. This ancient road will lead to further growth of both states both in terms of trade and economy. Thus, large-scale projects such as Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline and finally TANAP have been implemented.
Speaking about Azerbaijan's support for multilateral platforms such as the World Customs Organization, the Economic Cooperation Organization, the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization and the Turkic-Speaking States Cooperation Council, Bulent Tufekci called the cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan an example of friendship and brotherhood.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Safar Mehdiyev first of all, offered congratulations on the successful completion of the presidential elections in the Republic of Turkey and wished the people of the brotherly country more progress and prosperity. It was stressed that the fact that President of Azerbaijan was the first to offer congratulations when the results of the presidential elections were announced was a sign of friendship and brotherhood of our countries.
Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Safar Mehdiyev noted that the consistent and purposeful policy aimed at the development of Azerbaijan-Turkey relations was being developed successfully by the heads of state of the two countries and strategic partnership had been deepened. Thanks to the joint efforts of the heads of state of the two countries, Azerbaijan and Turkey are the closest and fraternal countries in terms of historical commitment and today's reality.
As regards the relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, Safar Mehdiyev expressed his satisfaction with the current state of cooperation, stressed the importance of exchanging experience. It was said that studying Turkey's experience on risk management at Azerbaijan's Customs Service helped gain achievements in this sphere.
Views were exchanged on the issues of mutual interest.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Turkey Khazar Ibrahim also attended the meeting.
