Joint Committee on Customs Issues holds third meeting

The delegation led by chairman of the State Customs Committee, customs service Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev is paying a visit to the Republic of Turkey to attend the third meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Issues between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Trade Ministry of the Republic of Turkey.

The delegation includes chairman of the State Customs Committee of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, customs service Major-General Sahhat Habibbeyli and heads of the relevant bodies of the State Customs Committee.

The third meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Issues between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Trade Ministry of the Republic of Turkey was held in Ankara on October 11.

The delegations led by chairman of the State Customs Committee, customs service Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev and Deputy Trade Minister of the Republic of Turkey Gonca Batur attended the event. Views were exchanged on the further development of relations between the customs bodies of the two fraternal countries.

Discussions were held on continuing exchange of experience with regard to the risk analysis and New Computerized Transit System, strengthening cooperation between the dog-training centers, as well as dog trainers of the two countries, ensuring meetings between Dilucu-Sederek customs offices, holding joint events at the World Customs Organization's Regional Office for Capacity Building for the Europe Region in Baku.

The sides reached an agreement on completing discussions and signing the Technical Provisions document on the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the establishment of initial electronic information exchange regarding transit deliveries by automobile transportation signed in Baku on July 19, 2007, starting discussion on the agreement that will ensure initial information exchange for facilitating border crossing procedures as part of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway project, on further developing the existing customs cooperation in Turkey-Azerbaijan-Georgia trilateral format, sharing practice of the Turkish customs bodies with Azerbaijan's customs bodies in the digital projects.

The Action Plan between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Trade Ministry of the Republic of Turkey on increasing efficiency of customs cooperation and mutual assistance for 2019-2020 and the Protocol of the third meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Issues between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Trade Ministry of the Republic of Turkey were signed at the end of the event.

The documents were signed by chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Safar Mehdiyev and Deputy Trade Minister of the Republic of Turkey Gonca Yilmaz.

The fourth meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Issues between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Trade Ministry of the Republic of Turkey will be held in Baku next year.
