On October 11, chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, customs service Lieutenant-General Safar Mehdiyev met with Trade Minister of the Republic of Turkey Ruhsar Pekcan in Ankara.
Trade Minister of the Republic of Turkey Ruhsar Pekcan talked about the relations between the two countries, said the customs bodies were playing an important role in this sphere.
Highly appreciating the current state of the political-economic, cultural-humanitarian relations between our countries, Ruhsar Pekcan underlined the importance of improving fraternal relations with Azerbaijan. Noting that exchange of information and experience strengthened relations in the customs sphere, Minister spoke about the importance of further enhancing joint cooperation in this regard.
Thanking for warm welcome, chairman of the State Customs Committee Safar Mehdiyev underlined that the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkey were based on historical roots, said as a result of the successful and purposeful policy pursued by the presidents of the two countries over the recent years the relations had further strengthened.
Safar Mehdiyev said realization of the transport and logistics projects in the region on the initiative and on the will of Azerbaijan and Turkey was a splendid example of the high-level relations.
Chairman of the Committee said more flexible, more modern management methods were applied at the customs bodies as part of the reforms carried out under the leadership of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, new projects were being implemented to realize facilitated international trade, ensure citizens' satisfaction.
Safar Mehdiyev said the customs bodies of the two countries were regularly exchanging experience, underlined the importance of more effective exchange of information, regarded the third meeting of the Joint Committee on Customs Issues between the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Trade Ministry of the Republic of Turkey as one of the important steps taken towards the development of cooperation.
Views were exchanged on the prospects of cooperation between the customs bodies of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on the facilitated customs corridor was signed at the end of the meeting.
The document was signed by chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Safar Mehdiyev and Trade Minister of the Republic of Turkey Ruhsar Pekcan.
