281.435kg drugs - heroin seized
Operation and Investigation Department of the South Areal Main Customs Office received a report that a great deal of drugs hidden in two Daf trucks with registration numbers 34AA941/34AA942 and 91D657-10/91D658-10 carrying "raisins" would be delivered from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Austria.
According to the report, the trucks driven by the citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mirzaeisaatlou Akbar Parviz and Abdelikhanghah Ramin Mashatli via our country were detained for customs control at Bilasuvar customs checkpoint of the South Areal Main Customs Office.
As tracker dogs reacted to the trucks with special gestures and movements, employees of the Department for scanning and application of technical control means checked the trucks with the use of X-ray device.
Though during the inquiry both drivers said nothing had been hidden in the trucks, there was nothing to declare for customs control, there were no drugs or psychotropic substances, X-ray device revealed suspicious images inside the fuel tanks of the trucks.
During the inspection it was found out that the fuel tanks had been divided into two sections, there were dark brown drugs – heroin hidden inside one of the sections.
374 litres of liquid containing 143.990kg heroin was found in the fuel tank of the truck driven by Mirzaeisaatlou Akbar Parviz and 357 litres of liquid containing 137.445kg heroin was found in the fuel tank of the truck driven by Abdelikhanghah Ramin Mashatli.
Totally, 281.435 heroin was seized from both trucks.
The drivers were detained and faced charges under articles 206.3.2, 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
