Chairman of State Customs Committee meets with Italian ambassador to Azerbaijan

On November 25, chairman of the State Customs Committee, customs service Colonel-General Safar Mehdiyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Azerbaijan Augusto Massari.

Chairman of the State Customs Committee Safar Mehdiyev spoke about the friendship and partnership between Italy and Azerbaijan, said mutually productive cooperation was developing in all spheres, including customs.

Safar Mehdiyev spoke about another military provocation of Armenia against Azerbaijan, counter-attack measures taken by the victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, said liberation of our territories, which were under occupation for about 30 years, would make an important contribution to restoring peace and stability in the region. Noting that today's meeting coincided with the day of liberation of Kalbajar region from occupation, chairman of the State Customs Committee said the victory gained thanks to the courage, determination of the Azerbaijani soldiers would have a positive influence on the economic progress of the region, create conditions for constructing new communication and transportation lines, it should be regarded as a contribution to developing international trade.

Chairman of the Committee said the Italian Republic was one of the important trade partners of Azerbaijan, expressed confidence that further necessary steps would be taken to improve mutual economic relations, the customs bodies would do their part in this regard. Safar Mehdiyev talked about the joint projects implemented by the customs bodies of the two countries and their future prospects.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Azerbaijan Augusto Massari said he was glad that Kalbajar region had been liberated, Azerbaijan had restored its territorial integrity, peace had been established in the region and extended his congratulations. Ambassador spoke about the visits he had paid to Ganja, Berde, Terter and Fuzuli together with the representatives of diplomatic corps, said he was impressed by what he had seen, the destructions committed there.

Ambassador noted that the productive relations in various spheres would also be continued successfully by the customs bodies, stressed the importance of further strengthening the mutual relations.

Views were also exchanged on a number of issues of mutual interest.
