WCO Secretary General visited the Heydar Aliyev Center and was introduced to the operations of the Azerbaijan Customs Service

On 14 July, as part of his official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Ian Saunders, visited the Baku General Customs Department and the Absheron Logistics Center.

During the visit, the Secretary General was presented with an overview of Azerbaijan’s modern customs clearance procedures and digital services, as well as the country’s logistics and supply chain capabilities, state-of-the-art warehousing and cargo handling infrastructure, customs–logistics integration, as well as the latest innovations and improvements introduced to enhance the efficiency of international trade and transit operations.

The WCO Secretary General also visited the WCO Europe Regional Office for Capacity Building in Baku, where he was introduced to its activities and held discussions on the Office’s priority areas and future objectives.

As part of the programme, the WCO Secretary General also visited the Heydar Aliyev Center, where he was provided with detailed information about the life and legacy of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, as well as the Center’s areas of activity.

Mr. Saunders also visited the Ateshgah Temple State Historical and Architectural Reserve.
