A Large Quantity of Opium Detected

At the "Shahtakhti" border crossing point of the Nakhchivan General Customs Department, a customs inspection was carried out with the assistance of a narcotics detection service dog on a vehicle transporting a cargo of " assorted food products" from Iran to the United Kingdom in transit through the territory of Azerbaijan. As a result, 4 kilograms and 500 grams of opium, constituting a large quantity of narcotic drugs, were discovered in a makeshift concealment compartment constructed beneath the refrigerator unit of the vehicle’s tractor unit.

The case is under investigation.
