Goods transported under preferential and simplified procedures Every natural person who has reached the age of 18 must follow these rules while crossing the customs border. Personal items not intended for production or commercial purposes, intended to meet the necessary needs, as well as medicines in the quantity necessary for personal use are not subject to customs duties. Individuals can bring into the customs territory 1.5 liters of alcoholic beverages, 200 cigarettes, 20 grams of gold jewelry, 0.5 carat diamonds, up to 30 kilograms of various types of food products; can take out of the customs territory 5 kilograms of sturgeon, up to 125 grams of sturgeon caviar; and each individual can bring across the customs border two goods of the same type, the total customs value of which does not exceed the equivalent of 800 USD, once a month without paying customs duties. Goods with a total customs value not exceeding 300 USD can be imported into the customs territory through international mail or a carrier company by declaring them to the name of the same individual within a month. Please note that the rules of crossing the customs border for foreigners are the same as those applicable to the citizens of Azerbaijan. If you have goods to be declared to the customs authority, you must leave the customs zone using the "Red channel" release system, otherwise you can use the "Green channel" release system. Rules for taking currency out of and bringing it into the country Every natural person who has reached the age of 18 must follow these rules while crossing the customs border. Currency in cash can be brought into the country without any restrictions by following the customs procedures. Foreign currency equivalent to 10,000 (ten thousand) USD and currency up to 20,000 (twenty thousand) manats can be taken out of the country by oral declaration. In addition, national currency in cash in the amount of 20,000 manats and above, as well as jubilee and commemorative coins denominated in national currency, regardless of their nominal value can be taken out of the country by written declaration. Foreign currency equivalent to 50,000 (fifty thousand) dollars can be taken out of the country in cash by submitting customs documents confirming that it was previously brought into the country in cash. Foreign currency exceeding the equivalent of 50,000 USD can be taken out of the country only by transfer through authorized banks and national postal operators, and in this case, certificate confirming the transfer of these funds in cash issued by the relevant bank of the country from where the currency was brought must be submitted. Goods prohibited from circulation Every natural person who has reached the age of 18 must follow these rules while crossing the customs border. Service and civilian weapons, circulation of which is prohibited by law, all items of military purpose, explosives, military equipment, radioactive substances, narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors and tools intended for their use, materials propagating and advertising immorality, violence, terrorism, as well as materials related to the technology of production of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, poisonous and explosive substances are prohibited to be brought into the country. According to Paragraph 9 of Appendix No. 1 of Decision No. 305 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated October 14, 2013, mobile phones and other wireless devices imported from abroad must be necessarily declared to the customs authority.

The declaration can be submitted to the customs authority in written form or electronically through e-kiosks, as well as the e.customs.gov.az web-portal or the "Smart Customs" mobile application.

Starting from February 15 of the current year, in order to register the mobile phones in the website portal.rinn.az, their registration in the electronic system of the State Customs Committee is required.

Non-declaration of mobile phones passing through the customs border, will in turn, entail administrative responsibility.
