Meeting with the Minister for Europe and North America of the MFA of the United Kingdom
On February 23, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, the lieutenant general of the customs service Mr. Shahin Baghirov met with the delegation led by member of the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Minister for Europe and North America of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Leo Docherty.
The meeting was attended by heads of the relevant structural divisions of the Committee, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to our country Mr. Fergus Auld, and other officials.
At the meeting discussions on development of mutual relations, construction of a training center on "Search on vehicles " within the framework of the project implemented between the State Customs Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Great Britain, conducting trainings aimed at capacity building of customs officers, as well as on preparation of legal documents for strengthening bilateral information exchange mechanisms were held.
The beneficial relations between the customs authorities of two countries were discussed, and it was emphasized that the new training center to be built with the support of United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will not only increase the experience and capabilities of the Azerbaijani customs in the canine field, but will also be useful for the countries of the region.
Mr. Leo Docherty said that Azerbaijan Customs Service is on the front line in the fight against narcotics, and that the measures take in this direction and the achieved results are commendable.
Within the framework of the meeting, the Virtual Reality application developed by the staff of the Canine Center of the State Customs Committee to be used in the training of cynologists was demonstrated, and opinions were exchanged on issues of mutual interest.
The guests also got acquainted with the activities of the Canine Center of the State Customs Committee and watched the search process of service dogs. At the same time, the area allocated for the training center to be built was inspected.
