The 88th session of the Policy Commission of the World Customs Organization is being held

On June 19, the 88th session of the WCO Policy Commission began its work at the headquarters of the World Customs Organization in Brussels, the capital of the Kingdom of Belgium. The delegation led by the Chairman of the State Customs Committee, lieutenant-general of the customs service Shahin Baghirov is participating in the session.

Final report on the COVID-19 project, information on the strategic review of the Harmonic System, Report on the meeting of the Private Sector Advisory Group, updates on Electronic Commerce, Implementation Plan of the WCO Strategic Plan 2023-2024, Green Customs, Fragile Borders and other issues are discussed in the Policy Commission.

As a member of the Policy Commission, Azerbaijan Customs expressed its position, suggestions and opinions on the WCO Secretary General's report, the WCO Strategic Plan for 2022-2025 and the Implementation Plan for 2023-2024, Technology and Innovations, Green Customs and Fragile Borders, and pointed out that important support to the improvement of the customs work of the member states and international trade will be provided. 

Chair person of the WCO Customs Cooperation Council, Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa, during the discussions on "Green Customs" on the agenda, emphasized that while in Baku he observed the contributions of Azerbaijan Customs in this direction and the development of the country in this field.

Speaking on the topic of Technology and Innovation, WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya stated that the discussions held in Baku with the participation of the heads of the customs services of the regional countries within the framework of the "Project for simplifying transit customs procedures along the Middle Corridor" initiated and organized by the Azerbaijan customs service are of great importance in terms of information exchange and strengthening of cooperation. 

It should be noted that the 141st/142nd Session of the Customs Cooperation Council of the WCO will be held on June 22-24.
