“UNEC Honorary Doctor” diploma was presented to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization

The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mikuriya payed a visit to the Azerbaijan State University of Economics.

The UNEC Rector Professor Adalat Muradov welcomed the guests and provided detailed information about the direction of activities, majors, forms of education and international relations of the University. He drew attention to the importance of visit of the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization to the university and meeting with the students.

The Chairman of the State Customs Committee Mr. Shahin Baghirov expressed his satisfaction in respect of the meeting with the students and highly appreciated the reforms carried out at UNEC. The importance of the cooperation between UNEC and Academy of the State Customs Committee for both parties was emphasized, the students were given information about the Trans-Caspian International East-West Middle Corridor and the work done in the direction of simplifying the transit customs procedure.

The Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mikuriya highlighted the implemented projects related to the international customs system and international trade. Then he answered the questions of the students about the developing countries, as well as the implementation of tariff-free border, simplified transit rules, etc. for Azerbaijan.

At the end of the meeting, the ceremony of presenting the “Honorary Doctor of UNEC" diploma to the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mikuriya was held.
